Andrea Martin Chávez se dedica a la práctica, investigación y enseñanza del Diseño Arquitectónico. Obtuvo la Maestría en Ciencias en Estudios Arquitectónicos (SMArch) en el Instituto Tecnológico de Massachusetts (MIT) y el título de Arquitecta en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).

Por 30 años fue profesora-investigadora de la UAM-X y es miembro fundador del Taller de Vivienda (tavi.xoc.uam.mx) cuya investigación ha producido obra, publicaciones y talleres en el campo del deseño de asentamientos informales y vivienda popular. Parte de esta obra se expuso en la Bienal de Arqiutectura, Venecia 2016. El año de 2009 fue Profesora Visitante en el CBE de la UW, Seattle y en el de 2013 Investigadora Visitante en el CED de la UC Berkeley. Desde 1998 es miembro activo de la red internacional CIB-W104 Open Building Implementation.

Su práctica arquitectónica en San Francisco, CA; Cuernavaca y Cuidad de México se centra en el diseño residencial sustentable comprometido con las necesidades y aspiraciones del usuario, el lugar y el medio ambiente. De 1982-95 fue socia del despacho Caso Arquitectos en CDMX y de 1981 a 1982 trabajó en el despacho William Geddis Asoc en la ciudad de Boston, MA .

Andrea M Martin has dedicated her professional life to the practice, research and teaching of Architectural Design. She graduated in 1979 from National University of Mexico (UNAM) and in 1981 received her M.Sc in Architectural Studies degree from MIT.

For 30 years she was a tenuered professor of Architecture at UAM-X where she is a founding member of the Housing Workshop TAVI (tavi.xoc.uam.mx)  whose work has produced buildings,  research articles and workshops in the field of informal settlements and low income housing. In 2016 part of this work was exhibited in the Venice Architectural Biennale. In 2009 she was Visiting Professor at CBE UW, Seattle and in 2013 Visiting Scholar at CEB UC Berkeley. Since 1998  is an active member of CIB-W104 Open Building Implementation international network.

Her solo practice in San Francisco, CA, Cuernavaca and Mexico City focuses on sustainable design commited to: the needs and aspirations of the user; the site; and the environment. Previosly she was a junior partner in Caso Architects firm from 1982-1995 in Mexico City and worked with William Geddis Asoc in Boston, MA from 1981-1982.
